About WuWay
A one-person project, and the reasons it is built the way it is.
Who runs this
WuWay is built and run by one person. There is no company behind it, no team, and no investor to answer to. That is worth saying plainly, because it explains several decisions below — a solo project can afford to be honest about limits in a way a funded one often cannot.
You can reach that person through Contact. It is an ordinary inbox, and it is read.
Why it exists
Search for your Chinese element and almost every result gives the same thing: a table keyed to the last digit of your birth year. The table is real — it comes from the tradition — but it answers a narrower question than the one being asked, and almost nothing online says so.
WuWay exists to close that gap: it reads the full chart, shows which pillars it used, and is explicit about what the system can and cannot tell you.
How the calculation works
The engine converts the birth moment to true local solar time, builds the four pillars, and derives the element balance from them. It runs entirely in the browser — birth date, time and city are never sent to a server.
Two things follow, and both are deliberate:
- The method is published and testable. A page runs the real engine against reference charts, so the output can be checked rather than taken on trust. See Algorithm & accuracy.
- There is nothing to breach. Not collecting birth data is a stronger position than collecting it carefully.
What it deliberately does not claim
WuWay does not predict events. It is not a diagnosis, and it is not medical, psychological or financial advice. The Five Elements are a traditional vocabulary for describing tendencies and balance — useful for reflection, and not a basis for decisions about your health or your money.
If a reading here ever sounds like a promise about the future, that is a failure of the writing, not a feature of the system.
Why the report costs money
The calculator is free and always will be. The written report is $19.90, paid once, with no subscription. It pays for the time it takes to write nine sections of actual text for each reading, and for keeping the site running without advertising or selling data.
A sample report is available without paying, so you can see what you would be buying before deciding.
The writing
The articles here are written for this site, in plain language, and are not syndicated from anywhere. Where the tradition is contested or unclear, the text says so rather than picking a version and presenting it as settled.
